This story is still in the process for completion, which might take a while because I've originally planned this to be a novel. But here's a short excerpt!

At a point of time when no one was awake, all the gods and goddesses decided to celebrate a grand festival on top of Mount Apo. It was the birth of a child-god they’ve named Vinceño. As a special tradition, the gods gave each of their blessings to the little child in the blankets. Galang Kaluluwa, the winged god of travelling was the first to give his blessing to the child, praying that all of Vinceno’s children become strong voyagers and explorers. Then came Suku the god of the Sun, Tala the god of the stars¸ and Malyari the goddess of the moon, who cleared the sky of clouds to reveal the most enchanting night sky that no mortal has ever seen.

They were all in tremendous joy celebrating in their grand feast for the child-god that they have forgotten about Bakunawa, the sea monster that everyone greatly feared.

It was a belief that the Bakunawa, selfish and possessive, once attempted to devour the seven moons. If it wasn’t for Bathala, the god of gods, he would still be wandering their country to terrorize the mortals. It was said that every night, the people must go out to make noise with their pans to scare the monster away. But tonight, as the gods feasted on their banquet, it was a deafening silence around the village and this caused Bakunawa to wake.

The selfish monster rose from its hiding place and went to take its revenge on the happy gods on top of the mountain. But Bathala, though he wasn’t present in the party, he was watching over his children and went to save all of them; he turned all the gods and goddesses into mortals to keep Bakunawa from devouring them and all their earthly supremacy. Because of this Bakunawa escaped and was never seen again. No one knows where Bakunawa is but it is sure that it’s wandering around looking for a chance to take his revenge on all of the gods. In all of the panic, Vinceño was left in his blankets in the mountain. Bathala kept the baby and delivered him down to earth where he as well can live like a mortal. Bathala kept all of Vinceño’s powers, for one day he knows that he will use it again to defeat the great monster.
